A city without a home
Now I'm no expert on the economy or international relations or for that matter the use of proper english or grammar but I find it hard to ignore the fact that one of the nations oldest and colorful cities has still been ignored by our so called national government. How can we as a nation still shrug our shoulders and say "geez that really sucks down there why dont they fix that fuckin' mess?" ), forget all the racial questions out there for now I'll touch on that later on this blog sight, lets look at this from a REAL patriotic view. What does this say to the rest of the world about how we take care of our own? . The U.S doesn't have anyone to bomb over this except mother nature. It seems the idea of rebuilding a landmark city that showed such a diverse element of american culture isnt really important because those in power cant gain from its revival. I get at least 3 phone calls a week to my home asking if I'll go to Iraq as an interpreter and help american contractors rebuild that country. Ive heard of no american contractors over seas getting calls to come here to New Orleans and help rebuild here. There is no excuse for the United States to abanden the state of Louisiana none at all. Now i know there is more to this situation than meets the eye such as no one voted in the city to pay for a new levy before Katrina hit and there were alot of mercenary builders heading down there to gouge the city for repairs but if the U.S was ever REALLY concerned about protecting its borders and coastlines that levy would have been built 6 years ago. Can you imagine New York city getting ignored by its government after the planes flew into the towers? "oh well i guess they shouldnt have built those towers so tall and maybe those planes would have missed them " , would you buy that excuse ? i hope not. I dont want to think about how our government really feels about its inhabitants. Lets think about how we as cititzens really feel about our government and their agenda right here in the good old U.S of A.

Although I have searched lots of times, I have found no Amendment or wording in the Constitution that says the government is responsible for repairing private property. That means the power is vested to the state and since the Lousianna State Constitution also lacks the same verbage, the people.
The citizens of New Orleans made their own bed choosing to build up a city below sea level next to the sea. They weren't bright enough to figure out the ramifications of doing so until it happened so I say, let them sleep in the bed they made.
